GURUGRAM: The Sector-39 Crime Branch of the Gurugram Police has arrested a driver who fled with ₹47.28 lakh belonging to his employer. The accused, identified as Vinay Kumar, was apprehended in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, following a multi-state track-down.
The Incident
The theft occurred on April 30, when a local businessman entrusted Kumar—his driver of two years—with the cash to deliver to a location in Sector-49. - Gold Purchase: Kumar used approximately ₹26 lakh to buy 160 grams of gold through a relative.
- Luxury Spending: He purchased an iPhone and spent additional amounts on personal luxuries.
- Recovered Assets: Authorities have successfully recovered the 160 grams of gold, the newly purchased iPhone, and ₹2.75 lakh in cash.
The accused was produced in court and has been placed on a four-day police remand. The Crime Branch is currently conducting further interrogations to trace and recover the remaining balance of the stolen cash.
