Gurugram: During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh suspended a Booth Level Officer (BLO) with immediate effect for negligence in election-related duties.
Rakesh Kumar, a JBT teacher at Government Model Sanskriti Primary School, Bhodakalan, and BLO for the Pataudi Assembly constituency, was found guilty of serious negligence in carrying out election work. He was accused of failing to perform his assigned responsibilities and deliberately ignoring the instructions issued by the Election Commission.
Despite being repeatedly instructed and receiving two warnings, Rakesh Kumar did not perform his election duties satisfactorily. In addition, his mobile phone was found switched off most of the time, making it difficult for officials to contact him.
Taking the matter seriously, the District Election Officer ordered his immediate suspension, calling it a major violation of Election Commission guidelines. The District Elementary Education Officer has also been directed to begin departmental disciplinary proceedings against him on a priority basis.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 campaign, any negligence, carelessness, or disregard of Election Commission instructions in election-related work will not be tolerated at any level.
