Badshahpur: Daily wage laborers from various states staged a protest on Monday at Baba Prakash Puri Chowk on Gurugram’s Railway Station Road against the rising prices of small LPG cylinders. Holding empty small cylinders in their hands, the workers demanded immediate relief from the government and concerned departments.
The protesters highlighted that amidst relentlessly rising inflation, the cost of small gas cylinders has become an unbearable financial burden, making it increasingly difficult to feed and support their families. They urged authorities to lower the prices to provide much-needed respite to poor households.
Rising Kitchen Costs Break the Budget of Daily Earners
The laborers participating in the protest stated that as daily wage earners, their income is highly volatile and limited. The continuous hike in cooking gas prices has directly disrupted their monthly household budgets. They argued that the government should at least provide subsidized relief on small-sized cylinders so that poor and low-income families have a financial safety net.
“Nobody is listening to the problems of the poor,” said Jatin Bengali, one of the protesting workers. “The working class is constantly bearing the brunt of inflation, but our hardships are being completely ignored by the authorities.”
Workers from Multiple States Join Hands
A large number of laborers gathered for the demonstration, including Gautam, Babulal, Binod, Atar Singh, Ghanshyam, Gaurav Mani, Devendra, Rahul, Shyam, Rajesh Kumar, Hausila Prasad, Sanju, and Madhusudan.
The majority of the protesting workforce consists of migrant laborers who have moved to Gurugram from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh to earn a livelihood.
