GURUGRAM, April 13, 2026 — In a major move to revitalize the tourism sector in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana government has greenlit a sprawling 12-acre cultural and recreational hub in the foothills of the Aravallis. Modeled after the iconic Kingdom of Dreams, this upcoming project in Sohna is designed to blend traditional Indian heritage with modern entertainment, positioning the region as a primary destination for global and domestic travelers.
Strategic Location: The “Greater Gurugram” Gateway
The project is situated in Saamp Ki Nangli village (Ward 20) in Sohna, an area increasingly recognized as “Greater Gurugram.” Its placement is highly strategic, offering seamless connectivity via two major lifelines:
- Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Providing rapid access from the national capital.
- KMP (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway: Connecting the hub to major industrial and residential circuits across Haryana.
Acting Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary recently finalized the proposal review, noting that the hub will provide a modern identity to Sohna, which has historically been known primarily for the religious Shiv Kund hot springs.
Project Scope and Cultural Vision
The hub aims to fill the void left by the closure of the original Kingdom of Dreams in Sector 29. By utilizing a 12-acre land parcel owned by the Municipal Council, the project will feature:
- Thematic Cultural Zones: Immersive pavilions showcasing the art, crafts, and culinary diversity of various Indian states.
- High-Tech Entertainment: Performance theaters for large-scale musicals and folk art, similar to the “Nautanki Mahal” concept.
- Eco-Tourism Integration: Leveraging its location in the Aravalli foothills to offer nature-centric experiences that contrast with Gurugram’s urban landscape.
Economic Impact and Local Development
The Municipal Council of Sohna anticipates a significant revenue stream from this venture. Official estimates suggest:
- Monthly Revenue: Approximately ₹1 crore in direct income for the council.
- Land Protection: The development serves as a strategic “land-banking” measure to prevent encroachment by land mafias on high-value municipal property.
- Employment: Hundreds of jobs are expected to be created in the hospitality, retail, and performing arts sectors.
“We have identified the land and are moving forward with a vision to make Sohna a modern recreational capital,” stated Executive Engineer Vicky Kumar. “This center will be the cornerstone of our regional tourism circuit.”
Synergy with the Aravalli Jungle Safari
The cultural hub is designed to complement the upcoming Aravalli Jungle Safari project. Together, these initiatives aim to create a comprehensive “Green Tourism Corridor.” While the Safari Park focuses on wildlife and conservation, the cultural hub will act as the hospitality and entertainment anchor, providing the necessary infrastructure for day-trippers and weekend tourists.
Current Status
The project is currently in the late planning and administrative approval phase. With the land already secured and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) under review, ground-breaking is expected to commence shortly. This development marks a pivotal shift for Gurugram, moving its tourism focus from corporate “mall-culture” to an authentic, nature-integrated cultural experience.
